Caritas Corea has been a member of Caritas Internationalis , a worldwide network of Catholic relief and development organizations, since 1979 and a member of the Caritas Asia, a regional Caritas association joined with other 22 Catholic development agencies from Asia.

Caritas Internationalis is a confederation of 164 Catholic relief, development and social organizations working to build a better world, especially for the poor and oppressed, in over 200 countries and territories. Caritas works without regard to creed, race, or ethnicity, and is one of the world’s largest humanitarian networks. It’s headquarter is in the Vatican City, and representatves at the United Nations in New York, Geneva, Rome, and Paris.
Caritas provides a beacon of hope for tens of millions of women, men and children, in times of hardship and contributes to the development of social justice in times of peace. Caritas’ mandate includes intergral development, emergency relief, advocacy, peace building, respect for human rights and support for proper stewardship of the planet’s environment and rescourse.
Caritas fights poverty, exclusion, intolerance and discrimination. More importantly, it empowers people to participate fully in all matters affecting their lives, and it advocates on their behalf at national and international forums.

Caritas Asia(CA) is a regional confederation with 22 Caritas national members in Asia including Caritas Japan, Taiwan, Cambodia, Mongolia, India, Pakistan, etc. The goal of CA is to promote Caritas Member Organizations(MOs)’ works and to coordinate cooperation for Caritas MOs. As successor of Asia Partnership for Human Development(APHD)’s Pan-Asia Program, CA is operating 2 Pan-Asia programs & other development program/projects across the Asian region. For cooperation and solidarity of Asia region, Caritas Corea has been supproting Pan-Asia programs such as Sustainable Agriculture and Farmers Rights (SAFaR) program, Anti-Trafficking program, and other 3 Asia development programs.

There are Caritas Member Organizations in 164 countries, always without regard to race or religion. Caritas members directly help 24 million people a year in 202 countries and territories and employ 440,000 paid staff and 625,000 volunteers (not including 400,000 staff and 400,000 volunteers in Germany). Caritas members have a combined estimated worth of US $5.5 billion.
