Caritas Corea had channeled the aids from foreign Catholic Churches to Korea for the recovery and development after the Korean War up to the middle of 1980's. Then, the role of Caritas Corea was shifted to provide the supports to other underdeveloped countries since 1993 along with economic development and growth of consciousness of international solidarity within the Church. For the period from 1993 to 2008, Caritas Corea supported 515 emergency & development programs and projects in the world in the amount of over US $ 17 million.
Emergency Relief
Caritas Corea responds and supports emergency relief programs in the situation of natural disasters and war/conflicts in the world through Caritas network.
Development Program/Project
Caritas Corea supports development programs and projects in the countries, especially Asia, Africa, and Middle East countries based on strong partnership with Caritas member organizations, dioceses and congregations.

Caritas Corea selects a couple of target countries to facilitate
“Focus Region Program”, a part of long-term development programs.
Shelter project for the poorest women and children families in Bangladesh (Korean version)
CI DPRK Program is the long-term social development program to respond the needs of the most affected groups in the prevailing chronic humanitarian crisis in North Korea. It was started in 1995 after the heavy flood in North Korea, and Caritas Corea had also been supporting North Korea since 1995. Now Caritas Corea is the facilitating partner of CI DPRK Program after mandated from Caritas Internationalis in November 2006.
