On February 4th the Hepatitis B vaccination of 500.000 children and youth in the age of 6 to 16 started. 1.600 teams of doctors and nurses vaccinated during 4 days children at Kindergartens, Primary and Middle Schools in Pyongyang area. The vaccination has to be repeated twice for each child. Caritas supported the North Korean Ministry of Public Health with the HB vaccine and syringes.

Through our partners at Jangbaek Primary School we were able to assist the 350 children at Hyeasan Orphanage again. On 23rd of December winter clothes and soap were handed over to the persons in charge of the institution.

As usual we went on a second field trip together with Eugene-Bell-Foundation (EBF) to visit TB care centers. With an additional funding from German Government we bought soya beans for the visited care centers. It was quite cold and TB patients as visitors were freezing during the hand-over of medicine and testing.

We had the chance to visit as well the Hepatitis Hospital at Pyongyang.

Regarding the Hepatitis B vaccination program we concretized the planning and beginning of February the campaign will start in Pyongyang Province.

End of the trip to North Korea we added more days to participate in the first training course for 20 CBR-workers at Hunchun, China. The training was given by the staff from the Yanbian and Hunchun Disabled Federation with whom formerly we prepared it.
