From July 20 until 26 we visited Yanji and meet friends and made new contacts. After an 11 hours drive we reached Jangbaek right at the Amnuk riverside opposite Hyesan in North Korea. We had received a proposal from the Korean Primary School to assist them in the construction of a dormitory so that more children from small villages in the countryside could attend korean classes.

As the number of chinese-korean families is decreasing less children attend the classes at their neighboring schools.

Visiting the schools in the villages along the Amnuk-River we had some glimpse on the northkorean country side.

Our friends from Jangbaek took us as well to see Jangbaek-Mountain which in korean is Mount Pektusan. Together with other southkorean visitors we enjoyed the beautiful view on the lake.

On top of the volcano the two country China and North Korea come together as close as possible reducing the border demarcation to a thin red string hardly be paid attention to.
